Society of St. Vincent de Paul

Good Shepard Conference - A Ministry of St. Ambrose and St. Mary's Churches of Anderson, IN

Vincentians work with the other agencies in the city to try to provide the best service for those in need.

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is an international Catholic Organizationfounded in 1833
by Frederic Ozanam and his companions. Placed under the patronage of St. Vincent de
Paul, the society derives its inspiration from his thinking and work. The society seeks, in
a spirit of justice and charity and by person-to-person involvement to help those who are
duffering. It serves persons in need, regardless of race, creed or color. Vincentians seek
through prayer, meditation on scriptures, the teaching of the Church, through their daily
lives and in their relationship with those in need, to bear witness to the love of Christ.
Vincentians meet weekly at the Good Shepard Conference to discuss cases, to make
decisions and to engage in community prayer. The primary source of income of the
conference is the monthly collection taken at both St. Mary's and St. Ambrose Churches.
