’08-’09 Saint Ambrose and St. Mary’s High School Youth Ministry
All teens in grades 9-12 are welcome! Bring a friend!
What are LIFE Nights?
LIFE Nights offer a dynamic and appealing way to learn about the teachings of the Catholic Church while growing together in a parish community with your peers. The LIFE TEEN program is designed to cover the entire Catechism of the Catholic Church in four years during the LIFE Nights.
Therefore it is important that teens fully immerse themselves in the program.
What is expected from me?
We ask teens to keep an open mind and try an event at least once. We want you to come and have fun while growing spiritually!
Teens will be confirmed in their junior and senior years of high school. Teens planning to receive the sacrament of confirmation are asked to participate regularly in the Youth Ministry Program, especially LIFE Nights, Retreats, and service projects. All are asked to attend at least one retreat annually and at least 50% of the LIFE Nights. Juniors and Seniors preparing to receive the sacrament this year are expected to attend the monthly ROC Days, the Confirmation Retreat and complete the Service Guidelines.
Candidates are encouraged to participate fully in the program, including LIFE Nights and other events.
Seniors, make sure you are a part of the Senior Incentive Program; which includes Senior Only events, scholarships, a trip, LIFE Nights & more!
How do I find out what’s happening in Youth Ministry?
Please refer to the bulletin, website, and e-mail. Check out http://www.myspace.com/andersonlifeteen and the parish websites,
www.st.ambrosechurch.com and www.stmary.catholicweb.com . Currently, the St. Ambrose website is updated regularly and we hope to soon implement the Myspace page. Please check the website and your e-mail at least weekly for the most up to date information. This will be our main source of communication, including permission forms and updates.
How do I sign up for a Retreat, Rally, etc.?
Any time something is happening at either parish just show up and bring your friends!
If the flier states a deadline, please return your form and any necessary deposit to the parish offices via the Drop Box, collection basket, or mail.
Please understand if you sign up for an event, it is your responsibility to pay the entire fee, or the amount agreed upon if using scholarship assistance, even if you cancel. Or, you must find a replacement if you wish to receive a refund.
What if I can’t afford to pay for activities?
Scholarship assistance is always available to St. Ambrose teen parishioners.
NO TEEN WILL BE DENIED PARTICIPATION DUE TO LACK OF FUNDS.
Youth Ministry offers opportunities to earn money for events!
Work Market Day, or send someone in your place if you are unavailable, you will earn 5% of all the sales you bring in.
IF no one is available to work the sale for you, you can still earn a percentage of all the sales you bring in.
Contact all friends, family, and parishioners and encourage them to order Market Day
and have them turn in your name at the Sale. When making a payment for an activity, please specify you want to use your cash credit.
What if I have concerns with school, friends, etc.?
Teens, feel free to contact me any time you need some one to talk to. All conversations will be kept confidential except in extreme cases in which I feel your life is in danger or someone else’s life is in danger. Parents are asked to please keep me informed about concerns in your child’s life such as difficulties with school, peer pressure, etc. Please contact me during trying times such as deaths, illnesses, etc. I am here for your entire family, but can only be utilized if I’m aware of the situation. I will make house calls, hospital calls, etc. Teens are encouraged to inform me and other Core members about your extracurricular actives in which you wish for me to be present. I try very hard to attend all events I’m invited to by teens . –Rebecca
